OSTEOSARCOMA RESEARCH - FUNDING OPPORTUNITY
Hannah’s Willberry Wonder Pony Charity was established by Hannah Francis, a hugely inspirational 18 year old who very sadly lost her life to osteosarcoma in 2016. Hannah’s wishes for the charity were that a large proportion of the money would go to support vital research into osteosarcoma, to improve the lives of people with this terrible disease in the future. A declared objective for the research arm of the charity is: “To support vital research into osteosarcoma”.
Hannah’s Willberry Wonder Pony Charity has committed to supporting vital and world class osteosarcoma research over the last six years through funding of postdoctoral research projects and PhD training. These projects have included developing new technologies for osteosarcoma, improving diagnosis, exploring new drug targets and developing culture systems across the preclinical and clinical interface.
This year the charity is delighted to announce further funding for up to two PhD scholarships into osteosarcoma. Applications are accepted in all subject areas from across discovery science to clinical translation. Applications are particularly encouraged from cross disciplinary teams who have new or established links to clinical practice. Further, applications from cross institutional teams are particularly welcome.
The trustees are now inviting applications from potential supervisors for fully funded 4 year postgraduate studentships with a generous research stipend to start in October 2025. Due to funding regulations, applicants must be based in the UK. Completed application forms should be submitted in PDF format by Friday 18th October 2024 (23:59) to research@willberrywonderpony.org.
Applicants will be notified of the outcome by early Spring 2025. Please direct any queries/questions to the Research Team via email research@willberrywonderpony.org
